Tuesday morning at Seward Lane primary and junior high

This morning, we set up at a school and did our show. We did some new worship songs, and the kids loved them. The puppets were especially exciting for them, and they really liked “Jumping in the House”. There is a lot of set up involved, and the Jamaican and American teams have come together so well to get the job done, and of course the schoolboy love to help carry things to the van, and especially setting up the drums.

Monday night roadshow Price Lane

We were planning on going to Torrington Park for a road show Monday night, but a tragedy in the neighborhood caused us to change our plans. We ended up setting up in a small alleyway in Price Lane, and had a powerful roadshow. There were some hurting people that needed to hear a message of hope. We did “The Clincher” for the first time, and the crowd was enraptured by the message. As soon as Joel gave the salvation message, some ladies just came right up and it was great to be able to pray with and for them. The children were great as always, but a little more timid than some other places.

Road show Majestic Gardens

We did an afternoon road show in a pretty crazy neighborhood. It was a pretty rough area, and we were thankful to be there during the day. The kids were really enthusiastic and we had a hard time keeping them from absconding with the puppets. We had a fun time, and we were able to hand out Bibles, and some of them sat down and started reading. They had raw honesty about their status with The Lord- and knew they were not saved but needed to be. It was an exhausting but important show for sharing God’s love. We pray that they felt loved through us.image image image

First school assembly!

imageWe went to Swallowfield Elementary for our first assembly of the trip. The kids were so enthusiastic and loved taking selfies with the team. Todd, our red-headed celebrity, was quite the hit with the children. He will be fortunate to have any hair left at the end of the week, as they love touching and pulling his hair. Anthony brought the message. We did “The Champion” skit and loved watching the kids run from Satan and the demons and cheer when Jesus won!

First evening, first road show

We had our first road show tonight. It was in a rough area of Kingston called Trenchtown, the hometown of Bob Marley.  It started off with some dancing with adorable kids- the photo is Jeremiah cutting the rug with some cuties. We did music and puppets, but the rest got rained out, we came back to the Jamaica Youth for Christ building and practiced our dramas and enjoyed a little down time.

We had an uneventful flight, and landed in Montego Bay ready to spread the gospel. Our driver, Mr. Betty, has some skills in these mountain roads and we had a fun drive to Kingston after getting some Jamaican food . This week we will start our days at school assemblies, where we will use puppets, drama, testimonies, and a gospel message to spread the good news of Jesus. We will get to visit orphanages, elderly homes, facilities for special needs kids, and sing, pray, and love on the people. At night, we will set up in some pretty dark places to do street shows, where we will use puppets, drama, testimonies and gospel messages to lead people into a relationship with Christ. We can’t wait to see how God works in and through each of us this week. Our team is already enjoying each other, with lots of teamwork and laughter.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8

The time has come, and both teams will soon be bound for Jamaica!  We are excited about this opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we spread the gospel worldwide.  Please pray for safe traveling for both teams as we lead, encourage, and serve others.  You can follow our journey here, and we will update it when we get the chance.

Thank you for your prayers and support!
